NC State University in Raleigh, NC is seeking a Capital Asset Accountant to manage university-owned capital assets throughout their lifecycle. You will serve as the liaison between central finance and campus departments, ensuring accurate tracking, recording, and regulatory compliance.

The role involves asset recording, financial analysis, reconciliations, and support for audits, with opportunities to train campus staff and improve internal controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 12 accounting coursework or an associate degree with 12 accounting credits or equivalent
• Experience with capital asset management and accounting preferred
• Proficiency in Excel and GAAP knowledge
• Ability to coordinate with campus departments and provide training

Responsibilities

• Capital Asset Recording & Inventory Control: identify, tag, and evaluate equipment for entry into the financial system; monitor asset tagging compliance; oversee annual physical inventory.
• Financial Analysis, Journal Entries & Reconciliation: analyze GL transactions, prepare journal entries for asset life cycle events; reconcile reports with asset systems.
• Compliance, Reporting & Audit Support: ensure accurate reporting for financial statements and federal/state reports; support audits with KPI data.
• Campus Support, Training & Customer Service: act as primary contact for Asset Coordinators; conduct training on asset management policies; assist departments with inventory/admin issues.
