Pinterest is seeking a Sr. Manager to lead the Capacity Engineering team, guiding 12–18 month strategy across forecasting, capacity governance, and compute efficiency.

You will drive CPU/GPU forecasts, entitlements, and data systems while collaborating with cross-functional partners to balance cost, reliability, and developer velocity. You’ll use AI to accelerate analyses, ensure quality through verification, and recruit senior technical leaders to build a high-performing, inclusive team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, related field or equivalent experience.
• Experience leading large-scale cloud infrastructure teams and distributed systems.
• Experience defining 12-18 month strategies tied to goals with senior technical leaders.
• Technical experience in public-cloud infra, distributed systems, Kubernetes, capacity-management.
• Experience leading cross-functional programs and communicating tradeoffs to stakeholders.
• Proven ability to use AI to speed up outputs with verification.
• Strong track record of evaluating AI-assisted work with testing and data validation.
• High integrity and ownership for final decisions.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Capacity Engineering team and establish a 12–18 month strategy and roadmap tied to company goals.
• Develop CPU and GPU forecasts and supply plans accounting for demand, cost and reliability.
• Design and deliver capacity requests, reservations, entitlements, and data systems.
• Improve utilization across Kubernetes-based shared compute platforms and cloud environments.
• Establish trusted metrics and operating practices for capacity risk and costs.
• Collaborate with Infrastructure, SRE, Finance, product and cloud providers on investments.
• Plan team structure, recruit senior talent, and foster an inclusive, high-performing culture.
• Use AI to accelerate capacity analysis and workflows while ensuring quality.
