Job summary

NTC Language Services seeks reliable in-person Educational Interpreters (Cantonese) for NYC assignments on a part-time, as-needed basis. Interpreters will provide on-site interpretation services in NYC, NY, supporting students, families, and school staff.

Applicants must be fluent in English and Cantonese, available to travel to assignments, and able to maintain neutrality and confidentiality. Remote work is not offered for this role.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, write, and speak proficiently in both English and Cantonese.
• Strong listening and consecutive interpretation skills preferred.
• Ability to maintain neutrality and confidentiality.
• Professional communication with families, school staff, and administrators.
• Reliability and punctuality for in-person assignments.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-person interpretation between English and Cantonese.
• Preserve meaning, tone, and intent of communications.
• Remain neutral and avoid adding or omitting information.
• Maintain strict confidentiality regarding students and families.
• Arrive on time and stay for the full duration of assignments.
• Communicate professionally with families and school personnel; follow district policies.
• Dress in business-casual attire as instructed.
• Work with students, families, educators, and other school professionals.
