Job summary

Greenhill Humane Society is seeking a Canine Program Manager to lead our canine team and oversee the care, welfare, behavior, housing, enrichment, and placement of dogs in our shelter.

This hands-on leadership role focuses on developing staff, making sound welfare decisions, and coordinating with Veterinary, Foster, Volunteer, Outreach, and Customer Service teams to improve outcomes for dogs and the people who care about them.

Qualifications

• Strong team leadership and coaching skills.
• Professional canine-care experience and knowledge of behavior and welfare.
• Excellent judgment, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• A collaborative, compassionate approach to challenging situations.
• Shelter experience preferred; transferable animal-care and leadership experience welcome.

Responsibilities

• Lead the canine team and oversee care, welfare, behavior, housing, enrichment, and placement of dogs in the shelter.
• Develop staff and processes to advance canine welfare and outcomes.
• Coordinate with Veterinary, Foster, Volunteer, Outreach, and Customer Service teams to support dogs and caregivers.
• Help shape policies, systems, and pathways that improve dog and community outcomes.
