Job summary

HAWS in Wisconsin is seeking a Shelter Canine Behavior Coordinator to work with the Behavior Manager and Program Director on in-shelter behavior programs and to cultivate relationships with adopters and internal departments. This role supports humane, minimally invasive handling and collaborative care across the shelter, with emphasis on enrichment and successful adoptions.

Two years related experience working with animals in a shelter, veterinary clinic, or similar setting preferred.
Ability to work with diverse groups of people.
Strong communication, confidentiality and professionalism.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Must be able to pass criminal background check.

Responsibilities

Coordinate directly with the Shelter Canine Behavior Manager and Program Director.
Conduct behavioral assessments and provide recommendations.
Support adoption, kennel, transport, and education processes with behavior insights.
Run playgroups and support Dogs Play for Life Model with volunteers.
Update animal records in Shelter Software with behavior data.
Teach canine training classes for the public.
