Job summary

IndyHumane is seeking a Canine Enrichment Coordinator to support the emotional, behavioral, and physical well-being of the shelter's dogs through enrichment, training, handling, and behavior-support practices. Working with the Manager, Canine Enrichment, this role helps maintain protocols aligned with our mission to improve quality of life and lifesaving outcomes for shelter dogs.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year of professional experience in animal welfare, animal care, or a related environment.
• Demonstrated canine handling skills.
• Knowledge of or ability to learn IndyHumane canine enrichment and handling programming.
• Animal shelter experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide enrichment and daily exercise opportunities for shelter dogs.
• Monitor canine behavior and communicate observations to staff.
• Assist with training staff and volunteers on enrichment protocols.
• Support adoption counseling with behavior considerations.
• Coordinate playgroups and ensure safety during activities.
• Maintain accurate behavior and handling documentation.
