Job summary

Black Hills Special Services Cooperative (BHSSC) seeks a Cancer Coalition Coordinator to support the South Dakota Cancer Coalition (SDCC). You will coordinate coalition activities, build relationships with healthcare organizations and partners, and help translate the South Dakota Cancer Plan into actionable public health initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in public health, communications, or related field.
• Experience in coalition coordination and meeting facilitation preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication with diverse audiences.
• Excellent organizational, time management, and problem solving.
• Ability to manage multiple projects independently and detail-oriented.
• Proficiency with Office software, databases, and data collection/reporting.
• Valid South Dakota driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and support implementation of the South Dakota Cancer Plan through annual coalition work plans and activities.
• Build and maintain relationships with healthcare organizations, community partners, and other stakeholders to strengthen coalition participation.
• Lead coalition task forces and committees to advance shared public health goals.
• Plan, organize, and facilitate in-person and virtual coalition meetings, including preparing agendas and coordinating follow-up activities.
• Provide training, educational resources, and technical assistance to coalition members and partners.
• Support the implementation of evidence-based cancer prevention, screening, and survivorship initiatives.
• Develop and distribute coalition communications, including newsletters, partner updates, educational materials, and success stories.
• Collaborate with coalition members to coordinate community outreach, public education, and cancer screening promotion efforts.
• Collect, track, and report coalition activities, partner engagement, and progress toward program goals.
• Work with program leadership and evaluation partners to assess outcomes, identify opportunities for improvement, and complete required reporting.
