Job summary

UCSF Health is seeking a Team Lead for the Cancer Center to drive performance, optimize workflows, and guide onboarding and training for 20 practice coordinators. You will supervise daily clinic operations, coordinate scheduling, and support billing and IT systems integration to ensure smooth patient care.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related area or equivalent experience.
  • 3 years of experience in a related field.
  • Thorough knowledge of medical billing practices including coding, billing systems and documentation requirements.
  • Knowledge of ambulatory care clinic practice management including patient care workflows and processes.
  • Thorough understanding of medical terminology and clinical knowledge of the clinic practice area.
  • Proven ability to apply knowledge of medical center policies and procedures to assess and monitor clinic operations.
  • Excellent communication skills, including active listening and critical thinking.
  • Demonstrated ability to clearly and concisely communicate clinic content, rules and regulations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; actively cooperates and supports the work of others.
  • Ability to work productively with diverse populations and backgrounds.
  • Empathetic and aware of impact on others.
  • Productive in work volume, speed, quality and consistency.
  • Ability to see projects through to completion on deadline.
  • Excellent interpersonal judgment and discretion.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and data management.
  • Experience with healthcare IT systems including billing and medical records.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors daily clinic administrative operations, trains staff, and leads process improvement initiatives.
  • Prepares and maintains clinic schedule, coordinates provider schedules and appointments.
  • Acts as liaison with Concierge Services to expedite services and coordinate care.
  • Implements initiatives to improve claims submission and revenue collection.
  • Provides guidance to billing staff and coaches on authorizations.
  • Reviews and maintains clinic policies and procedures manuals.
  • Provides IT systems support and trains staff on workflows and protocols.
  • Oversees clinic resource management and collaborates with finance on reports.
