Job summary

Minnesota Daily is seeking a part-time campus reporter to produce engaging news coverage for the University of Minnesota community. You will file stories on a piece-rate basis, with published rates and no guaranteed minimum.

Responsibilities include developing ideas, sourcing contacts, and collaborating with editors on angles and visuals. The ideal candidate is a current University of Minnesota student with an interest in digital news, strong writing skills, and the ability to maintain

Qualifications

• Must be a University of Minnesota student.
• Success in a University writing-related class strongly advised.
• Strong interest in news and digital media.
• Familiarity with the University of Minnesota campus preferred.
• Willing to cultivate a lively social media presence.

Responsibilities

• Produce between one and two stories per period.
• Develops story ideas and maintains source contacts.
• Work closely with editors to determine angles and sourcing.
• Think creatively about news presentation (photos, graphics, etc.).
