Job summary

The Minnesota Daily is seeking a student columnist to provide clear, incisive opinions on campus news and issues. You will pitch and write one weekly column (700-1000 words) and work with the opinion editor to shape content and style.

Paid on a piece-rate basis, with no hourly wage or guaranteed minimum, you’ll earn according to published rates for each piece, with approximately 8 pieces per week. Strong deadlines and campus knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• Must be a University of Minnesota student.
• Excellent writing skills (scores in writing-related coursework are advantageous).
• Strong interest in opinion writing and campus/community coverage.

Responsibilities
