Job summary

Jefferson seeks a Security Officer to protect campus personnel, patients and visitors across rotating shifts at multiple locations in the greater Philadelphia area. The role emphasizes vigilance, badge checks and incident reporting.

Applicants should have a high school diploma, PA ACT 235 certification within 90 days, and a valid driver’s license. Prior campus/hospital security experience is preferred, with MS Office proficiency required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Prior security, police or military experience preferred.
• Experience in campus/hospital security or law enforcement preferred.
• PA residents: ACT 235 certification within 90 days of hire.
• Valid driver’s license required for certain locations.
• Must understand the 24-hour Security Response Center (SRC).
• Proficient with Microsoft Word and Email.
• Ability to work all shifts and rotate as needed.
• Uniformed position and capable of using security instruments.

Responsibilities

• Provide maximum protection for safety and security of personnel, patients, students, visitors and Jefferson assets.
• Perform security duties at fixed posts, on patrol, or while making rounds of buildings and grounds.
• Respond to calls for service and emergencies.
• Check for unauthorized persons, security violations and fire or safety hazards.
• Escort unauthorized persons from campus as necessary and verify badges.
• Assist patients, visitors and staff with directions or information.
• Maintain daily patrol logs and submit reports to supervisors.
• Assist with campus parking issues and training of new security staff.
• Support Trauma Team with helicopter landings and fire-related emergencies.
• Enforce no smoking policies on campus.
