Job summary

Thomas Jefferson University is seeking a Security Officer to protect campus personnel, patients, students and visitors. You will perform patrols, respond to calls, check IDs and escort unauthorized persons from campus.

This 24-hour role requires flexibility to work different shifts and to use Microsoft Word and security reporting tools. Prior security experience is preferred and a valid driver’s license may be required at some locations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Prior security, police or military experience is preferred.
• PA only: ACT 235 Certification required within 90 days of hire.
• Valid driver's license required to work at certain locations.
• Must be able to understand all responsibilities and technology associated with the 24-hour Security Response Center (SRC).
• Ability to function effectively with Microsoft desktop applications (i.e. Word, E-mail).
• Ability to work all shifts, and rotate between shifts as needed.

Responsibilities

• Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and staff in alignment with university values.
• Performs security patrols at fixed posts or on patrol, checks IDs, and escorts unauthorized persons.
• Responds to calls for service and notifies supervisor of conditions; may diffuse emergencies.
• Investigates and documents reports on incidents and maintains daily patrol logs.
• Provides assistance to employees, students, patients, and visitors as incidents occur.
• Assists with campus parking issues and supports safety teams during emergencies.
