Job summary

Stony Brook University’s Division of Student Affairs seeks a Safety and Support Services Assistant to provide administrative, operational, and supervisory support for Campus Residences programs. The role supports daily operations and helps ensure a safe, respectful residential environment.

Reporting to the Associate Director or designated coordinator, you will participate in on-call rotations, assist with emergency response, and help coordinate projects and services across health and safety,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher). In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree, an Associate’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher) and two (2) years of full-time administrative experience may be considered.
• Administrative experience (student experience may be considered).
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and/or Google Workspace.
• Customer service experience.
• Must have, keep and maintain the appropriate valid NYS Driver’s License; have a motor vehicle record which is free from major violations or a pattern of repeat violations.

Responsibilities

• Reporting to the Associate Director, Assistant Director, or designated coordinator within Safety & Support Services, the Safety and Support Services Assistant provides administrative, operational, and supervisory support for Campus Residences programs and services.
• The position is responsible for supporting the daily operations of assigned functional areas, assisting with the supervision of students, coordinating projects and services, supporting compliance with University policies and procedures, and supporting a safe, secure, and supportive residential environment.
• The incumbent serves as a live-in professional staff member who maintains a visible campus presence, participates in an live in-duty rotation, and assists with emergency response, crisis management, and major university events as needed.
• This role will have a functional assignment in one of the following areas: health and safety, residential fitness centers, residential community centers, residential warehouse operations, and residential safety and support services operations.
