Job summary

Grand Canyon University is seeking a Campus Safety Student Guard to assist the Public Safety department and help keep the campus safe. The role includes directing traffic at booths, greeting and checking IDs, and performing tasks as directed by a supervisor.

Qualifications

• Criminal Justice Studies or ROTC students preferred.
• Sophomores and upperclassmen preferred; freshmen will only be considered in special cases.
• Positive, friendly and outgoing personality; customer service oriented; punctual.
• Willingness to learn and follow procedures; responsible and trustworthy.
• Microsoft Word and Excel skills.

Job description

Purpose Within the Organization: The purpose of the Campus Safety Student Guard position is to assist with GCU’s Public Safety department in an effort to keep the campus safe.

Responsibilities Related to Purpose

• Direct traffic to different campus locations at booths.
• Greet, ID, and decal check everyone coming onto campus.
• Assist with other details as assigned by a Public Safety Supervisor or Manager.
• Work a minimum of two shifts a week, up to 20 hours a week.

Shift Needs

• Day Shift: 0530-1500; every day except Wednesdays.
• Swing Shift: 1430-2100; every day except Wednesdays.
• Night Shift: 2200-0230; Friday and Saturday nights only.

Qualifications

• Criminal Justice Studies or ROTC students preferred.

• The ideal candidate will have a positive, friendly, and outgoing personality.
• Customer service oriented.
• Must be punctual.
• Willingness to learn and able to follow procedures.

Education: Grand Canyon University is committed to a student-first policy. Retain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master level student. Maintain good financial standing with the University.
