Job summary

Join the Shepard Academic Resource Center (SARC) at University of Portland to help guide the UP community as they access support from various divisions.

As an SARC Ambassador, you’ll provide friendly front desk coverage to students, parents, and staff, connect learners with peer tutoring, and assist during exams in Accessible Education Services. This role centers hospitality and connection and offers abundant development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Interest and willingness to interact extensively with students, faculty, and staff
• Personal characteristics including authenticity, enthusiasm, and honesty
• Strong communication and people skills
• Comfortable speaking to people in person, on the phone, or via email
• Ability to work at a computer desk and complete training sessions
• Enrolled in at least 6 credits for the summer or preregistered for 6 credits in the fall by May 15

Responsibilities

• Greet, sign in, and orient visitors to SARC offices
• Orient students to university resources and academic requirements
• Coordinate with campus activities to ensure up-to-date handouts
• Assist with general office tasks: calls, emails, data entry
• Help students utilize campus resources
• Support SARC staff with projects and duties as needed
• Participate in all training sessions, including an all-day session before Fall Semester
