Job summary

Washington University in St. Louis is seeking a Dispatcher for the afternoons to support the Enterprise Physical Operations communications center on the Medical Campus.

The role involves answering emergency and non-emergency calls, dispatching Police personnel, monitoring CCTV and alarms, maintaining logs, and coordinating with the Communications Center Supervisor to ensure staffing and training needs are met.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of any required training to be a state certified Telecommunicator.
• Pass a drug screen and criminal background investigation.
• Considerable knowledge of communications equipment; considerable knowledge of and ability to operate a computer.

Responsibilities

• Receives emergency and non-emergency telephone calls and in-person complaints from the public.
• Dispatches police personnel using radio system in response to calls for service.
• Maintains constant contact with police personnel in the field via radio and monitors for safety threats.
• Monitors alarm panels and CCTV feeds, dispatching units as needed.
• Maintains logs and computerized files, including towed vehicles and bicycle registrations.
• Responds to inquiries from the public regarding police services and coordinates with media when needed.
