Job summary

Barnes-Jewish Hospital at Washington University Medical Center in Missouri seeks a Communications Officer within the Department of Public Safety. You will receive, evaluate, and relay calls for emergency and non-emergency assistance, coordinate response teams, and maintain records in dispatch systems.

This is a night-shift role with rotating weekends and holidays. As the first responder, you’ll operate multiple telecommunications systems, perform crisis intervention, and ensure accurate incident

Qualifications

• Position requires an Associate's Degree.
• Experience: 2-5 years indicated in the role materials.
• Minimum requirements show No Experience listed for some levels; supervisor experience: No Experience.

Responsibilities

• Manages and responds to public safety radio system(s), telephone, and alarm systems.
• Performs crisis intervention over the telephone and coordinates emergency response.
• Uses dispatch systems to interview callers and dispatch officers efficiently.
• Handles emergency procedures and coordinates with fire, police, EMS, and other entities.
• Ensures campus safety by knowing layout, streets, buildings, and nearby areas.
