Job summary

University of Houston Police Department is seeking a Police Captain to lead operations, administration, and campus security across UH campuses. The role oversees sworn and non-sworn personnel and directs patrols, investigations, dispatch, and security programs to meet department goals.

Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree, 7+ years in law enforcement with 5+ years supervisory experience, plus a valid Texas TCOLE license and driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's degree from a college or university.
• Requires a minimum of seven (7) years of directly job-related experience with five (5) years supervisory.
• A valid, active Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) license and up-to-date TCOLE training.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License prior to job offer.

Responsibilities

• Provides leadership and staff development in police operations and campus security.
• Designs and implements operational programs for community policing and crime prevention.
• Coordinates with other law enforcement agencies and university departments to resolve security issues.
• Participates in procurement processes for goods and services.
• Ensures compliance with CJIS, CLERY, and IACLEA guidelines and accreditation.
