The University of Houston is seeking a senior leader to oversee the University of Houston Police Department (UHPD). You will provide leadership across patrol, investigations, training, security, and community relations, reporting to the Chief of Police.

Responsibilities include supervising lieutenants and managers, assisting with budgeting, ensuring compliance with laws and UH policies, guiding recruitment, and driving officer development and performance.

Qualifications

• Requires formal education in a relevant field via a 4-year degree.
• Minimum seven years of directly job-related experience.
• Security-sensitive position with criminal history check requirement.

Responsabilités

• Provides leadership and staff development for all UHPD areas.
• Assists Chief in developing and administering departmental budgets.
• Ensures compliance with federal, state and local laws and policies.
• Oversees performance of division personnel and recruitment processes.
• Develops and maintains training and career development programs.
• Investigates complaints and takes corrective actions per policy.
• Directs operations for efficient use of staff, facilities, and resources.
• Serves as liaison with university departments and other agencies.
• Keeps abreast of innovations in police work in higher education.
• Performs other job-related duties as needed.
