The University of Houston Police Department is seeking a commissioned law enforcement officer to protect persons and property on campus, enforcing laws and patrolling the university area by foot or vehicle.

The position requires TCOLE certification, a Texas driver’s license, the ability to work nights, weekends and overtime, and successful completion of background investigations and pre-employment screenings. Veterans are encouraged to apply and preference may be given.

Qualifikationen

• Must be at least 21 years of age and have a clear Texas driver’s license.
• TCOLE certification is required.
• Must pass Criminal History check and TX Driver’s License verification prior to interview.
• Must be able to work nights, weekends, and overtime.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screening.

Aufgaben

• Enforces all laws, including penal and traffic laws.
• Patrols assigned area on foot or in a police vehicle.
• Responds to calls for assistance, service, and hazardous situations.
• Conducts preliminary investigations and completes required reports.
• Conducts crime prevention program presentations.
• Attends required annual training seminars.
• Utilizes police equipment such as firearms, baton, handcuffs, radios, camera and other equipment.
