Job summary

KIPP New Orleans Schools (KNOS) is seeking a Director of School Operations to lead non-instructional systems across a PreK–8 campus. You will partner with School Leaders and regional teams to design, run, and improve budgets, facilities, transportation, food service, and student systems, ensuring equitable and efficient operations that protect instructional time.

Qualifications

• 7+ years total operations experience; 2+ years leading school/site ops teams
• Direct experience in K-12 or youth-serving nonprofit with facilities, compliance, or business operations ownership
• Proven budget management and vendor/contracts oversight
• Knowledge of FERPA, IDEA-related operational requirements, safety procedures
• Experience with SIS systems and modern office tools

Responsibilities

• Set a clear operations vision and annual priorities aligned to academic and culture goals
• Define and refine operating model, RACI, SLAs, escalation paths
• Establish goals, KPIs, meeting cadences to monitor operations
• Hire, onboard, develop, and manage the school-based operations team
• Budget planning in partnership with School Leader; monitor budget vs. actuals
• Oversee transportation, food service, facilities, safety, and compliance processes
• Lead communications standards and family/staff engagement
• Ensure enrollment and attendance targets with compliance and data integrity
