Job summary

KIPP New Orleans Schools (KNOS) is seeking a Director of School Operations to lead all non-instructional systems across a joint PreK–8 campus, enabling School Leaders and teachers to maximize learning time. The role partners with regional teams to design and continuously improve operations—budgeting, facilities, safety, transportation, HR/compliance records, and communications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required; 7+ years total operations experience.
• 2+ years leading school/site ops teams; K-12 or youth-serving nonprofit experience preferred.
• Deep understanding of FERPA and IDEA operational requirements; budgeting, procurement, and audit readiness.

Responsibilities

• Set a clear operations vision and annual priorities aligned to academic goals.
• Define operating model, SLAs, decision rights, and escalation paths.
• Establish goals, KPIs, and meeting cadences across all operations functions.
• Lead cross‑functional prioritization with School Leader and stakeholders.
• Monitor dashboards, budgets, and accountability; ensure financial health.
• Hire, onboard, develop, and manage the school-based operations team.
• Set expectations, build team capacity, and enforce high performance standards.
• Lead ongoing coaching and performance management.
• Build a culture of service, ownership, and continuous improvement.
• Lead budget strategy in partnership with School Leader; ensure equity in resources.
• Establish and enforce purchasing controls and audit standards.
