UGEN - Remote
Jul 13, 2026
Department: UTech, the ADA Compliance Office, and Facilities
Location: On-campus, with travel required between buildings across the entire campus footprint. This is a field-based position; minimal desk time.
Position Summary
The Campus Accessibility Mapping Assistant will help verify and document wheelchair-ramp accessibility at building entrances across campus, and identify and confirm access to lactation rooms in campus buildings. The student will canvass each building, record relevant facility details and conditions, and report findings to support an accurate, up-to-date accessibility map of campus.
Key Responsibilities
Walk to and inspect building entrances across campus, recording ramp presence, slope, surface condition, and signage
Locate and document lactation rooms in each building, including access instructions (key/code/front desk request), room condition, and signage
Take photographs and notes to document findings for each location
Cross-reference findings with existing ADA records and flag discrepancies
Report issues (missing ramps, damaged surfaces, obstructions, inaccessible or unmarked lactation rooms) to the ADA Compliance Office and Facilities team
Collaborate with UTech staff to input data into the campus map system
Maintain accurate, organized records of all site visits
Physical Demands
This position requires extensive walking across campus, often between buildings that are spread out or located on uneven terrain, as well as standing for extended periods while inspecting and documenting entrances and rooms. The student should be comfortable being outdoors for sustained stretches of time and working in varying weather and temperature conditions, including heat, cold, wind, and light precipitation. If weather conditions become unsafe (severe storms, extreme heat or cold, ice, etc.), site visits may be rescheduled at the student's discretion in consultation with their supervisor.
Qualifications
Currently enrolled student in good standing
Reliable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently outdoors
Strong written communication skills for documentation and reporting
Basic comfort with photo documentation and data entry tools (training provided)
Prior experience with accessibility, facilities, or mapping work is a plus but not required
This role involves regular collaboration with UTech, the ADA Compliance Office, and the Facilities team. The student will spend the majority of working hours outdoors and moving across campus rather than at a desk, with periodic check-ins to report findings and coordinate next steps.
Other additional tasks may be assigned as needed
Physical and Environmental Requirements
Position is open to Case undergrad students
