Job summary

University of Alabama at Birmingham is seeking a General Mechanic for Campus Maintenance. The role involves reading blueprints and schedules, performing preventive and routine maintenance on electrical and mechanical systems, plumbing, HVAC, and building structures.

You may assist other trades and respond to service requests and emergencies on campus. We value attention to detail, strong problem solving, and the ability to work with minimal supervision while maintaining a safe, clean work

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required with 2 years related experience.
• Ability to read blueprints, floor plans and maintenance specs.
• Experience with electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Read, interpret blueprints and schedules related to building systems.
• Perform routine, preventive and minor maintenance on electrical and mechanical equipment.
• Assist other trades as needed (Electricians, HVAC, Plumbers, etc.).
• Respond to service requests from building occupants including emergencies.
• Follow work orders and keep area clean and safe.
