Job summary

University of Utah is seeking a Vehicle Operator I to support campus mail, printing and package delivery. You will operate light motor vehicles, assist with mail processing, and provide front line customer service on a daily basis.

The role emphasizes timely delivery, accuracy in sorting and reporting, and maintaining vehicle readiness. Training is provided, with a schedule of Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm, at campus facilities.

Qualifications

• Equivalency statement: 1 year of higher education can substitute for 1 year of directly related work experience.
• Requires little to no related experience.

Responsibilities

• Operates light motor vehicles to deliver and pick up materials on and off campus.
• Delivers and collects campus mail, including special and registered mail.
• Sorts incoming mail and packages for proper campus delivery.
• Verifies addresses for inbound mail to ensure correct delivery.
• Processes express packages for hand-off to carriers.
• Assists with sorting and processing mail for postal service.
• Provides front line customer service and answers questions.
• Maintains and inspects vehicles; ensures regular service.
• Performs physical labor related to moving and handling mail.
• Receives and records incoming materials and reports receipt to department buyer.
• Assists Campus Receiving and other tasks as assigned.
