Job summary

California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks is seeking a Computer Systems Specialist I to provide day-to-day technical support across campus for hardware, software, and network connectivity. You will troubleshoot devices, install and image workstations, and assist with lab upkeep and inventory management.

The role requires a relevant associate degree and one year of hands-on experience; a Bachelor's degree and certifications are preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum qualifications include an associate degree (or two years of college-level coursework) in Information Systems, Computer Science, MIS, or related field and one year hands-on experience installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting computer hardware, software, and network systems.
• Preferred: Bachelor's Degree and relevant industry certifications.

Responsibilities

• Maintains, configures, troubleshoots Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android hardware, software, and peripherals.
• Provides responsive technical support via phone, email, ticket queue, or in person; logs work in ticketing system.
• Performs computer setup, imaging, hardware upgrades, and moves across campus for faculty, staff, and labs.
• Provides basic end-user orientation on university software, display setups, and peripherals.
• Performs routine health checks, software cleanup, and hardware upkeep for labs and public stations.
• Assists with hardware, peripheral, and network maintenance; coordinates with vendors for repairs.
• Monitors basic service availability for local servers and client apps under senior staff guidance.
• Assists with OTP/MFA delivery issues and password resets under security guidelines.
• Maintains internal technical notes and hardware inventory logs.
