Job summary

New-College-of-Florid campus seeks an IT Support Technician to install, maintain, upgrade and troubleshoot standard software and hardware for faculty and staff.

The role includes diagnosing hardware/software issues, liaising with vendors, assisting with lab maintenance, and providing routine technical support across PCs and peripherals, including printers and basic networking.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma and five (5) years of relevant experience.
  • Associates degree and four years of appropriate experience.
  • Associates degree in computer science or related field.
  • A+ and Network+ certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as campus resource for installing, maintaining, upgrading and troubleshooting standard application software and computer hardware for faculty and staff.
  • Troubleshoots hardware and software problems and confers with vendors or other staff for resolving problems.
  • Initiates routine diagnostics to isolate causes of system failures and make moderately complex equipment repairs.
  • Acts as liaison with vendors for requesting repairs and maintenance.
  • Provides routine technical assistance in the use of computer hardware including printers and other peripheral equipment.
  • Basic network troubleshooting, connecting cables to various network/telco jacks and patch panels and must be able to create custom patch cables.
  • Assists the Computer Support Specialist with advanced problem solving.
  • Responsible for maintenance of computer laboratories.
  • Must be proficient in technical writing and documentation.
  • Research technical specifications for new equipment purchases
  • Research, test and implement new technology to enhance efficiencies with deployment solutions
  • Serves as team leader for student work study and OPS positions
  • Good interpersonal (verbal and writing) skills.
  • Knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Office applications, with PC and Apple computer hardware and peripheral equipment and knowledge of basic networking understanding.
  • Ability to identify hardware and software problems and provide solutions and ability to use diagnostic equipment and software.
  • Must be organized and able to multitask.

  • Associates degree in computer science or related field.
  • A+ and Network+ certifications.
