Job summary

Richard Bland College is seeking an HVAC Technician to maintain and repair campus HVAC and related systems. The role includes preventive maintenance, inspections, and after-hours on-call duties to support essential campus operations.

The ideal candidate holds a high school diploma or equivalent, Universal EPA Certification, and proven HVAC experience. Strong diagnostic skills and the ability to read blueprints are required. A valid driver’s license and basic computer skills are also needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Universal EPA Certification.
• Demonstrated HVAC experience including installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills for equipment issues.
• Rotating 24-hour on-call availability.
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and manuals.
• Knowledge of basic electronics and plumbing.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Basic computer applications skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with others.
• Ability to perform physical tasks (lifting up to 50 lbs, ladders, confined spaces).
• Ability to read, write, and perform basic math.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on HVAC, refrigeration, air handling, control, and mechanical systems.
• Inspect, diagnose, and repair equipment malfunctions and replace components as needed.
• Perform electrical repair and maintain service records and repair-supply inventories.
• Perform plumbing repair and maintenance with service records and inventories.
• Complete carpentry projects (metal stud framing, drywall, general repairs).
• Paint and maintain surfaces as needed.
• Maintain accurate operating, maintenance, and repair logs.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and workplace safety standards.
• Support facility upkeep with a variety of skilled tasks.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
• Must work effectively with others.
• On-call after-hours emergencies on a rotating schedule.
