Job summary

University of Wisconsin–Madison is seeking a Facilities Technician I to join the Physical Plant: Campus Services division. You will support campus events, including setup and teardown of furniture and equipment, and provide table and chair rental and delivery for numerous campus events.

The role involves working with ladders and lifts for window washing, maintenance tasks, and ensuring safe operation at heights up to 160 feet.

Qualifications

• Ability to provide excellent customer service to a wide variety of audiences.
• Driver’s License Required - Valid and Meets UW Risk Management Standards.
• Experience with window washing, construction demo/cleanup, furniture relocation, landscaping, farm labor, or event setup is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist with relocation of campus equipment as needed.
• Assist with routine facility inspections and monitors cleanliness.
• Escalates and documents issues according to established policies and procedures.
• Assist with inventory and distribution of deliveries to appropriate entities under close supervision.
• Assist trades, crafts, vendors, and technical staff with construction, design, and operational maintenance as needed.
• Set up and tear down equipment for institutional meetings and events.
• Utilize basic equipment to repair and maintain basic machinery, equipment, and facility property under close supervision to prevent further damage and ensure optimal operation.
• Perform routine inspections of campus equipment.
