Job summary

Kansas State University is seeking an Associate Director II, Zone Maintenance to lead day-to-day maintenance operations. The role supervises 50 staff and five supervisors, ensuring safety, timeliness, and exceptional customer service campus-wide.

The incumbent will drive efficiency using root cause analysis, balance preventative and reactive work, and provide data-driven inputs for long-range facility planning and budgeting.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma (or equivalent) and nine years of relevant supervisory/leadership experience managing large complex operations.
• Requires a valid driver’s license.
• Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or related field.
• Professional Engineering License (PE) or master’s degree in architecture and/or Engineering.
• District energy system (steam, chilled water) experience preferred.
• Strong leadership and budget management capabilities.
• Experience building and leading diverse teams with a customer-service mindset.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of 50 departmental staff and direct supervision over five supervisors.
• Ensure safe, timely completion of work requests with gold-standard customer service.
• Provide data-driven inputs to support long-term facility planning.
• Coordinate internal and external resources for maintenance activities.
