Job summary

Muskegon Community College is seeking a dependable Maintenance/Facilities worker to help keep campus buildings and grounds clean, safe, and orderly. You’ll assist custodial, grounds, and skilled trades teams, perform deliveries, and support snow removal and vehicle maintenance across campus locations.

The position requires the ability to lift heavy loads, travel between campus sites, and work overtime as needed. A high school diploma or GED and a Michigan driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of high school diploma or GED.
• Ability to work independently and understand written instructions.
• Basic computer skills; Word, Excel, and Outlook experience preferred.
• Ability to write and generate reports.
• Ability to relate to and work with people of diverse backgrounds.
• Willingness to learn and share new ideas.
• Knowledge to operate and maintain grounds, maintenance, and custodial equipment.
• Valid Michigan driver’s license and ability to travel to all campus locations.
• Willingness to work overtime for snow removal or emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and ensure clean grounds and parking lots; pick up litter and manage traffic control as needed.
• Adhere to safety regulations and report unsafe conditions.
• Make off-campus pick-ups and deliveries; assist with snow removal and lawn maintenance.
• Maintain College vehicles and perform routine service checks.
• Perform duties related to building and grounds maintenance, painting, repairs, and setup for events.
• Maintain emergency power generators and keep maintenance records.
