Job summary

National Western Center is seeking a Building Engineer to oversee day-to-day operation, maintenance, and repair of campus building systems, including HVAC and plumbing. The role requires hands-on work, safety compliance, and proactive problem-solving.

The position involves indoor/outdoor work on a large multi-building campus, with after-hours availability for emergencies. Starting pay ranges from $35.00 to $38.00 per hour, with benefits and 401k support.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred; associate degree or technical certification in Building Systems or Facilities Management preferred.
• 1–2 years operations/event experience; 2–4 years in a facility engineer role.
• Experience with computer-based operating and energy management systems.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems for the campus.
• Monitor energy usage and assist with energy management efforts to reduce costs.
• Perform inspections and preventive maintenance; document safety and compliance measures.
• Utilize CMMS to manage work orders, track inventory, and maintain records.
