Job summary

Columbia University Facilities & Operations is seeking a Supervisor of Custodial Services to report to the Director of Custodial Services. The role delivers quality, reliable campus services and oversees a team to meet departmental goals.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) and 3–5 years managing a unionized workforce, with strong MS Office skills and excellent communication. Normal schedule includes Sundays and weekday evenings, with potential weekend work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent is required.
• 3-5 years of related experience including managing a unionized workforce.
• Knowledge of cleaning commercial facilities and buildings.

Responsibilities

• Develops priorities to realize departmental objectives and supports programmatic and fiscal strategy.
• Administers performance standards to meet service expectations and monitors productivity and customer satisfaction.
• Coordinates development, implementation, and maintenance of programs, routines, and schedules.
• Collaborates with CU Facilities staff to maximize services and supports safety programs.
• Directly supervises staff and participates in hiring, training, evaluation, and termination as required.
• Interprets the collective bargaining agreement and resolves issues.
• Evaluates equipment, supplies, and procedures; ensures regulatory compliance.
• Performs other related duties as required.
• Weekends or off-hour work may be required occasionally.
