Job summary

St. John’s University is seeking an Events Supervisor to oversee internal and external campus events. You will work with Athletics, Student Life, Conference Services and Public Safety to ensure events run safely and within budget.

Your role includes evaluating passes, coordinating Per Diems, and reporting on event outcomes. The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree (preferred) and 5–10 years’ experience in security or police environments, with strong communication and customer service skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• 5-10 years of experience in security and/or Police environment preferred
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Banner, UIS
• Excellent customer service skills are required
• Ability to multitask
• Attention to detail
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to exercise high level of discretion, good judgment, and professionalism
• Capacity to work in a fast-paced, unpredictable environment
• Must be highly flexible and accessible after normal business hours.

Responsibilities

• Schedule and call the Per Diems for events, patrol, shuttle and Resident Village coverage.
• Supervise and monitor the Per Diems for uniforms, appearance, customer service skills and communication skills.
• Notify the Assistant Director, Administration & Events by email on payroll changes, disciplinary problems and all other pertinent information.
• After every event email the Director, Public Safety and Assistant Director, Administration & Events with a critique of the event.
• During events where any problems necessitate making notifications, notify Chief of Public Safety and Director, Public Safety immediately.
• Backfill for Supervisors during vacations and emergencies.
• Monitor all campus calendars for events and activities.
• Ensure Per Diems receive proper instruction during roll calls.
• Oversee department reports for accuracy and neatness.
