Job summary

The University of Tennessee Police Department in Knoxville is seeking a Communications position responsible for receiving calls, logging information, and coordinating dispatch of appropriate personnel or services to emergencies and routine situations. You will operate a multi-line control system in high-pressure environments and serve as a critical link between callers and field units.

Candidates should have a High School Diploma or equivalent, with preferred associate or bachelor’s degree.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Strong communication and multitasking abilities required.

Responsibilities

• Process requests for service via telephone from the public, other agencies, or UT Police Department.
• Transmit service requests or emergency calls using multi-channel radio to field personnel.
• Maintain forms, papers, and printouts for the Communications section.
• May act as Communications Training Officers on shift.
• Monitor Central Alarm system and respond to activations as needed.
• Use CAD and Records Management System to log and retrieve calls.
• Check NCIC databases and assist with national distribution data.
• Monitor campus cameras.
• Work onsite across three shifts on campus.
