Job summary

NC State University seeks a General Manager to oversee a residential dining unit within NC State Dining. You will lead strategic planning, financial stewardship, and day-to-day operations, coordinating with culinary teams to deliver high-quality meals and experiences for students, staff, and faculty.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics, Home Economics, Hospitality Management or related discipline with 1 year of food management experience, or an Associate’s degree with 3 years of food management experience.
• Supervising staff in food service with hiring, coaching and training experience.
• Advanced knowledge of menu management systems, spreadsheets, and word processing; proficiency with email.
• ServSafe certification or ability to obtain within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Oversee strategic planning, analysis, and financial stewardship of the residential dining unit.
• Provide administrative supervision of dietary activities, including planning menus.
• Lead day-to-day operations, coordinate with chefs, dietitian, and bakery to meet NC State Dining standards.
• Recruit, onboard, train staff; approve leave; conduct performance appraisals.
• Ensure safety and compliance with health guidelines and sanitation ratings.
