Job summary

Rhodes College in Memphis is seeking a Desktop Support Specialist to join the Academic Technology Team. You will provide desktop and endpoint support for faculty, staff, labs, and classrooms, with emphasis on Windows and MacOS alongside classroom AV systems.

The role includes deploying and troubleshooting computers, OS updates with SCCM and Intune, and delivering excellent customer service while coordinating with Help Desk and Information Services staff.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in IT or related field is required.
• Experience supporting desktop and laptop computers in a professional or higher education setting.
• Working knowledge of Windows OS, hardware, printers, networking, and troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with macOS; JAMF knowledge beneficial but not required.
• Experience with endpoint management tools and software deployment is preferred.
• Knowledge of audiovisual equipment and classroom technologies is beneficial.
• Excellent customer-service, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively while independently handling requests.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for desktop and laptop computers, printers, peripherals, and related technology.
• Configure, deploy, maintain, troubleshoot, and replace computers for faculty, staff, labs, and classrooms.
• Install and maintain operating system updates, software, security patches, and standard applications using SCCM and Intune management platforms.
• Respond to and resolve support requests in coordination with the Help Desk and other Information Services staff.
• Provide support for classroom audiovisual systems, displays, projection systems, control systems, and instructional technologies.
• Collaborate with Academic Technology staff on desktop standards, technology deployments, upgrades, and preventative maintenance.
• Maintain current knowledge of desktop, endpoint management, audiovisual, and instructional technologies.
