Job summary

Elgin Community College is seeking a Custodian to perform general custodial duties across campus. The role involves routine cleaning tasks, equipment operation, and assisting with events and renovations. The position is non-exempt with a standard schedule.

The successful candidate will have at least one year of custodial experience, good reading skills for safety rules and manuals, and a willingness to work a flexible schedule including some evenings or weekends as needed.

Qualifications

• One year of custodial experience.
• Ability to read and understand safety rules, SDS, and manuals.

Responsibilities

• Perform custodial tasks in various campus buildings (floors, restrooms, trash, carpets, windows).
• Operate custodial equipment (sweepers, floor scrubbers, buffers, moving equipment).
• Clean light fixtures and lenses as needed.
• Assist grounds with snow removal and exterior cleanup.
• Provide custodial coverage for facility events as required.
• Assist in cleaning and moving projects for renovations/new construction.
• Handle biohazard waste with proper safety procedures.
• Lock/unlock buildings per events schedule.
