Job summary

Seattle Pacific University is seeking a Custodial Manager on its Seattle campus to lead the custodial team, oversee contracted services, and coordinate campus-wide service requests. You will work with service desk and maintenance to maintain clean, welcoming spaces aligned with SPU’s values.

The role emphasizes leadership, staff development, customer service, and efficient operations, with occasional evening/weekend coverage.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• At least three years of experience in custodial or maintenance management, including client-facing work and oversight of contracted services; or at least one year supervisory experience plus three years in custodial or maintenance operations.
• Experience interviewing, hiring, training, and supporting employees.
• Strong customer-service and relationship-building skills.
• Clear and professional verbal and written communication.
• Ability to organize competing priorities, respond to deadlines, and make sound decisions in a fast-moving service environment.
• Ability to address concerns and resolve conflict respectfully and constructively.
• Working proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
• Familiarity with custodial tools, equipment, chemicals, and operating practices.
• Valid Washington State driver’s license and ability to drive University service vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a diverse custodial team. Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate staff and students; set expectations and coach.
• Oversee contracted custodial services; coordinate inspections and address service concerns.
• Coordinate campus service requests with service desk and maintenance teams.
• Build strong campus relationships by communicating service needs and schedules.
• Monitor quality and improve operations using the CMMS and regular reporting.
• Manage supplies and equipment; promote safe and environmentally responsible practices.
• Provide evening or weekend support as needed.
• Support SPU’s mission with a service-focused department.
