Job summary

Capstone On-Campus Management (COCM) seeks a Community Assistant - Student Position to support the 24/7 Service Desk at Discovery House, University of Maryland. You will be the first contact for residents, helping with mail, keys, and questions while maintaining a welcoming environment.

The role requires a current University of Maryland student, full-time enrollment, and 3–5 shifts per week. Training through July 2026–May 2027 is included, with after-hours duties and move-in coverage.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Be enrolled full-time as a degree-seeking student at the University of Maryland.
• Available July 2026 through May 2027.
• Be available to work a minimum of three to five shifts each week.
• Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Ability to operate basic office equipment including photocopier, fax, and telephone.

Responsibilities

• Welcome residents and visitors in a professional, courteous manner.
• Answer and route incoming telephone calls.
• Manage resident package distribution and perform package audits.
• Complete required shift audit reports at the end of every shift.
• Monitor loaner key fobs and access cards, ensuring timely returns and resident follow-up.
• Maintain accurate documentation and records.
• Provide front desk coverage during holidays, semester breaks, exam periods, and university closures.
