Job summary

Gustavus Adolphus College seeks a Catering Supervisor to manage day-to-day operations of a high-volume campus catering operation. You will ensure timely service, quality control, and effective event coordination.

You will supervise student employees, train staff, and collaborate with Dining Service leadership on scheduling and workflow. The role requires flexibility for evenings/weekends and on-site events.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• One year of catering or restaurant experience.
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to create a welcoming and positive atmosphere.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively lead and motivate a team.
• Experience in a supervisory role within a food service environment, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Main point of contact at assigned events
• Effectively work in a team setting, which includes communication with student employees, supervisors, and other staff members
• Provide professionalism and excellent customer service to all guests
• Supervise the day-to-day operations of a high-volume catering department
• Train and supervise student employees, providing work direction and leadership
• Collaborate with the Director and Assistant Director of Catering to provide input on the scheduling of student and call-in staff
• Organize workflow and ensure employees understand their duties or delegated tasks
• Set, serve and clear events including coffee breaks at assigned events
• Prepare and assemble daily food items
• Ensure that service, sanitation, and food products meet quality standards
• Provide valuable customer feedback to the Dining Service leadership team
• Maintain a neat and clean work area and professional appearance
• Assist other areas within Dining Service operations as needed
