Job summary

University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN, is seeking a Catering Event Captain/Banquet Captain (Catering & Events Supervisor I) to plan, coordinate, and execute catered events on campus.

This role requires close collaboration with clients to design events and to coordinate on-campus services for external groups. The position oversees setup, service, and cleanup, manages daily operations of catering serveries and storage, and supervises student staff and inventory.

Qualifications

• Three years front-of-house hospitality experience, including at least one year supervising employees.
• ServSafe certification or ability to obtain within six months of employment.
• Liquor/alcohol training certification (Tips or Serve Safe Alcohol) within 3 months of hire.
• Preferred: hotel/restaurant or university dining services experience with supervisory responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and execute catered events for the University of St. Thomas.
• Coordinate on-campus services for external groups/events.
• Oversee setup, service, and cleanup of catered events.
• Oversee daily operations including catering serveries and storage areas.
• Supervise and train student staff; manage ordering and inventory.
