BARNES & NOBLE COLLEGE is seeking a customer-focused General Manager to lead a bookstore operation on campus. You will oversee financials, operations, and merchandising, building strong campus relations and guiding a team to deliver exceptional customer experiences and sales growth.

Ideal candidates bring 7+ years of retail supervisory experience, a business degree, and strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is required.

Qualifications

• 7+ years supervisory experience in retail.
• Bachelor's in Business Administration or relevant field preferred.
• Leadership to direct and develop managers and sales associates.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem solving skills.
• Familiarity with financial and customer service principles.
• Basic reading, writing and accounting skills.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Oversee a store or group of stores with annual volumes over $6m.
• Manage financial results, operations, merchandising, and campus relations.
• Build and maintain campus relationships and collaborate with Corporate Office.
• Lead, train, and counsel store team to enhance customer experiences and sales.
• Model exceptional customer service and drive sales performance.
• Ensure standards for quality, service, and safety are met.
• Identify and solve issues, and communicate effectively with staff.
• Provide feedback through coaching and appraisals; foster teamwork.
