Job summary

Rochester Institute of Technology Dining is seeking a Kitchen/Baker to join our on‑campus team. You’ll prepare and bake breads, rolls, cookies, cakes, pies, pastries, and other items, following established recipes and standards.

You’ll assist with daily kitchen tasks, provide friendly customer service, and help develop new menu items. This on‑campus, full‑time role offers a predictable schedule (Mon–Fri 5:30am–2:00pm) with occasional adjustments for campus events.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of culinary environments, techniques, and standards
• Knowledge of allergens, food sensitivities and dietetic restrictions
• Skill in time management, organization, and multi-tasking
• Ability to use basic mathematical/measuring to follow or scale recipes
• Ability to follow New York State, Monroe County, and university health codes as they relate to health, sanitation, and safety
• Ability to deliver exceptional customer service

Responsibilities

• Prepares and bakes ingredients to produce breads, rolls, cookies, cakes, pies, pastries, or other baked goods in accordance with established standards and recipes
• Assists with daily kitchen functions such as preparing hot and cold food and providing customer service
• Provides ongoing input into the creation of new recipes and menu items
• Ensures all prepared food is satisfactory in quality and quantity prepared and served and stored at proper temperatures and times
• Cleans cooking utensils, grills, ovens, hoods, and other kitchen equipment
• Assists with special projects and provides support where needed to meet production schedules and demands
• Other duties as assigned
