Job summary

The Salvation Army in Calabasas, CA is seeking help in its camp kitchen to assist the Food Service Manager with meal prep, serving, and sanitation. You will help set up dining areas, handle food storage, and ensure proper hygiene during shifts, including evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Knowledge of food preparation, serving, storage, and dishwashing.
• Knowledge of basic food handling safety standards.
• Knowledge of Health Department Sanitation Time and Temperature rules.
• Must possess a California Food Handler’s Certificate.
• Background check required; Protect the Mission training and certification.
• High School diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the daily operations of the camp food service program.
• Assist in the preparation and serving of food and packaged items.
• Prepare and store food and leftovers at proper temperatures and locations.
• Set up dining hall, food, supplies and utensils for service.
• Prepare and serve staff snacks as directed by the Food Service Manager.
• Clean, sanitize and maintain food-prep and storage equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness of food room, dish room, refrigerators, freezers and prep areas.
• Assist in receiving and storing food orders.
• Follow the work schedule set by the Food Service Manager, including evenings and weekends.
• Protect health and safety of guests and staff.
• Attend required trainings and orientation.
• Dress per policy and wear clean apron; wash hands regularly.
