Job description

ELS is hiring for the position of Camp Host/Ranger in Urbanna, Virginia.

What you'll do:

The Campground Ranger position may include walking or patrolling the grounds of the campground, answering questions, enforcing rules, and ensuring the safety of our guests and their belongings. The ideal employee can handle stressful situations calmly and react appropriately according to local, state, and federal law.

Your job will include:

1. Monitor the property for issues or potential problems.
2. Ensure the property is properly secured.
3. Ensure guests comply with resort rules, respond to concerns, and contact law enforcement if necessary.
4. Monitor incoming guests through the campground gate and verify access.
5. Perform routine patrols, golf cart and rental inspections.
6. Manage camping reservations, check guests in and out, and sell day passes and items at the store.
7. Prioritize guest safety and satisfaction.
8. Perform on-call emergency services as required.
9. Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills & experience you need:

1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Basic reading, writing, and math skills, and the ability to use computer applications.
3. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
4. Ability to assess situations, exercise quick and sound judgment, and resolve problems diplomatically.
5. Exceptional customer service and communication skills, with a friendly demeanor.
6. Experience in security, law enforcement, or RV environment is a plus.
7. Valid driver’s license, a good driving record, and current auto insurance.
8. Availability to work weekends and holidays regularly.
