Job summary

Umatilla County Sheriff's Office seeks a 911/Emergency Services Dispatcher to receive calls, determine urgency, and dispatch police, fire, or EMS using CAD and radio systems. The role requires sharp judgment and precise data entry in a high-pressure, 24/7 environment.

Please note the position starts at $4,715 per month with a full range to $6,018 per month and benefits; veterans and bilingual skills are considered. Training includes DPSST certifications within 18 months of hire.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age.
• Must possess High School Diploma or GED.
• Must speak, write and understand English clearly.
• Must distinguish colors for CAD.
• Must obtain Basic Telecommunications and EMS Dispatch DPSST cert within 18 months of hire.
• Must attain LEDS certification; training provided.
• Excellent communication and calm, professional questioning abilities.
• Ability to multitask and make quick, accurate dispatch decisions.

Responsibilities

• Receive emergency and non-emergency calls on 911 and non-emergency lines.
• Determine nature and location of emergencies; dispatch police, fire, or EMS via radio.
• Maintain accurate records of calls and coordinate responses with other agencies.
• Work 24/7 shifts in a high-pressure environment.
