Job summary

Whole Foods Market is seeking a Bakery Decorator to craft and decorate cakes, tarts, pastries and special-order items. You’ll apply artistic skills to ensure quality and meeting customer preferences while upholding safety and cleanliness standards.

You’ll assist with apprentices, handle opening/closing duties, and provide friendly service in a fast-paced grocery bakery environment. Flexible schedule including nights and weekends may be required.

Qualifications

• Efficient cake and pastry decorating skills with intermediate piping techniques.
• Color theory understanding for buttercream coloring and palette coordination.
• Ability to follow recipes, directions, and procedures with good time management.
• Strong knife handling and equipment safety for a fast-paced bakery.
• Strong communication and teamwork to support the Bakery Decorator Apprentices.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, fill, and finish/decorate cakes, tarts, and special-order items.
• Build and decorate cakes following standard procedures to meet demand.
• Merchandise products in display cases and ensure freshness and rotation.
• Provide excellent customer service and assist with special orders.
• Lead and support Bakery Decorator Apprentices and other team members.
• Perform opening, mid, and closing duties with accurate signage and pricing.
