Job summary

Whole Foods Market is seeking a Bakery Decorator to create and decorate cakes, tarts, and pastries, including special orders. You will finish items with artistic flair and ensure quality and presentation align with store standards.

You will train and guide Apprentices and teammates, while maintaining a clean, safe workspace and delivering excellent customer service to shoppers in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Efficient cake and pastry decorating skills, including intermediate piping techniques.
• Understand color theory for buttercream colors and coordinating palettes.
• Ability to follow recipes and procedures; strong time management and organization.
• Excellent communication and teamwork to support Bakery Decorator Apprentices and teammates.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, fill, and finish/decorate cakes, tarts, select pastry, and special-order items.
• Build, ice, and decorate cakes and other bakery items following standard procedures.
• Prioritize production lists and adjust as needed.
• Merchandise and display products to satisfy customers and ensure freshness.
• Provide guidance to Apprentices and other team members.
• Create special order cake designs based on customer preferences.
• Provide excellent customer service and handle phone requests promptly.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety standards in the bakery area.
