Hy-Vee, Inc. is seeking a Bakery Cake Designer to join the Bakery department. You will decorate cakes, take orders at the bakery counter, and work with a team to deliver memorable celebrations for customers.

The role involves leading part-time staff, coordinating with the bakery team, and ensuring timely production while maintaining sanitation standards. Training will be provided, and the position is hourly with an emphasis on customer service and creative decorating.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Six months or less of similar or related work experience; training provided.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers with a smile and take bakery orders.
• Check orders, set up production timeline and schedule.
• Decorate cakes and keep up with new designs and trends.
• Develop daily bakery orders for bakers and sizes needed.
• Track daily production and coordinate with coworkers.
• Ensure dates are correct and pull/display items as needed.
• Order decorating supplies and manage receipts.
• Deliver wedding cakes on site and assist with setup.
• Communicate with Bakery Manager about displays and needs.
• Lead part-time staff and assist with cross-training.
• Maintain proper sanitation and a clean work area.
• Answer phones and assist customers with product orders.
• Follow Hy-Vee dress code and guidelines.
